Waveny Park and its historic ‘1912 castle’ is one of New Canaans most well-known landmarks. It provides 300 acres of beautiful parkland with flowering meadows, serene gardens, a fountain, and a pond, with weekly concerts on the back terrace of the mansion during the summer months.

Though New Canaan is known for its country clubs rather than its nightclubs, there are a handful of bars and local venues that offer a wide selection of libations and live entertainment. Sports bar White Buffalo is a hometown favorite, while Tequila Mockingbird in the heart of downtown is perfect for tequila lovers.
Recently opened is Backstreet with a fun lively atmosphere serving elevated Mexican fare and great margs!

The area surrounding the New Canaan train station serves as the town center. Here, you’ll find a multitude of high-end clothing brands like Ralph Lauren, Lilly Pulitzer, Vineyard Vines, and Ann Taylor, as well as unique boutiques and specialty shops like Beach Corner and the Elm Street Bookstore. Also located here are two major grocery stores, including Walter Stewart’s and a popular farmers market.
Some people visit from other areas just for the shopping and New Canaan’s beautiful town center.
